Groups to Host National Event for “Encore Entrepreneurs”

You’ve heard of speed dating, right?  What about speed mentoring?

It’s one of the offerings that will be part of the first-ever National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day, which the U.S. Small Business Administration and AARP will host on October 2, 2012 as part of a broader effort to promote entrepreneurship among individuals age 50 and older. The SBA-AARP partnership was the subject of this blog post earlier in the year.

According to a news release, National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day will consist of coast-to-coast events intended to match “encore entrepreneurs” with mentors who have small business experience. Events will include speed mentoring, which allows mentors and entrepreneurs to share information during five-minute sessions, and mentor lunches for entrepreneurs to learn from successful business owners.

If you’re in the U.S. and would like to find a local event near you, here’s a site with more information.
